Well, didn’t we all bake up a simple recipe for raising hundreds of pounds for charity!
Tea and cakes proved a winning formula for the second year running when Always Consult turned its office on the Upton Magna Business Park into a one stop café.
Managing director Carol Ewels, together with senior associates, Sheila Henshall and Roddy Christie were kept busy serving up cakes and running a raffle during the three-hour afternoon tea party.
The event raised £378 for Severn Hospice, but the total was boosted to £756, thanks to match-funding from Barclays Bank citizenship team.
Carol Ewels (Managing Director) said: “For the past four or five years we’ve held an annual fund-raising event in aid of Severn Hospice, including a treasure hunt and a quiz night. They are always well supported and approaching £3,000 has now been handed over.
“We held a tea party last year in the Always Consult office as we wanted to do something impromptu which was less time-consuming to organise. We invited staff from our neighbours on the business park, together with a few customers and friends.
“It proved a success so we decided to repeat it again this year. People popped in at their leisure during the afternoon for a chat over a cuppa. It was completely informal, free of charge but with a raffle. I’d like to thank everyone who called by or who gave a donation, for their generosity.”
Carol added: “As an ex Barclays employee, I was eligible to apply for match-funding and we are grateful to the bank for its continued support in doubling the amount raised.”
This year’s tea party also marked Always Consult’s 10th anniversary. The company was formed by Carol, a former Barclays senior manager, when she left the bank a decade ago and is now one of the leading companies in its field.
Together with senior associates Sheila Henshall, Adrian Pitt and Roddy Christie, she provides business management training and coaching at a national level with public and private sector customers throughout Britain.
Lucy Ruff, fundraising manager at Severn Hospice, said: “We really appreciate the wonderful support we’ve received from Always Consult over the past few years. The money they have raised through their fundraising efforts will help us make a real difference to the families in our care.”
